ELECTRONIC REPAIR TECHNICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION
Location: Carlton Technologies, Inc. – Holland, MI
The Electronic Repair Technician within Carlton Technologies, Inc. is responsible for the repair of all of Carlton’s product lines, including barcode scanners, data capture devices, printers, cradles, vehicle mount units, and wireless enterprise mobile devices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting, both hardware and software analysis of mobile computing devices
- Electronic repair work including soldering, component level replacement, and board level hot air re-work
- Refurbishment of previously owned hardware
- Staging and configuration of customer specific software and needs
- Efficient and accurate completion of orders to meet customer commitments
- Follow Carlton’s 7-Step Repair Process to ensure delivery of a quality product every time; final inspection and cleaning of devices prior to shipment
- Responsibility for accurate parts inventory and maintaining a clean, safe and organized work environment
- Communicate with management and procurement when suspected software and/or hardware problems need to be addressed internally
- Completion of special projects assigned by management, i.e. customer specific projects, research and development, quality control
- Other responsibilities as assigned by Manager

QUALIFICATIONS
Desired Skills & Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree, GED, required along with 2+ years of related experience and/or training. An Electronics Degree is preferred, but not required.
In addition, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Experience using electronic testing equipment and tools, i.e. multi-meters, hot air workstations, soldering irons
- Strong troubleshooting skills and problem-solving skills
- Computer, smartphone, and/or tablet repair experience would be a plus
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and its related products (Excel, Teams, Outlook)
- Familiarity working in an ERP/CRM system would be a plus
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and effectively deal with tight deadlines and pressure, planning out each day and staying focused on tasks
- Ability to read and follow written procedures
- Application support experience would be a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a candidate who is not afraid to ask questions and can appropriately use available resources; work in a team environment
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently without supervision
- Reliable, dependable attendance is essential
- Willingness to learn other functions and expand role, if needed
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Work is normally performed in a light industrial environment
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs. without assistance on a regular basis
- Must be able to speak and understand English
